Literacy: Week of March 15th - 19th

Literacy
Dear Parents,

I am very excited after the opportunity of visiting several schools in California where they are implementing the Cell/Exll project our elementary school is working with. I aslo had the opportunity to meet other Litearcy Coaches. We shared experiences and I obtained feedback from them. Later, I presented in the International Literacy Conference in Mexico city. Overall, the experience was very productive and rewarding. I would like to thank you for your undestanding and support while I was away.

Sincerely,
Ms. Leary

This week we will be working on:

Read Aloud:
Plantzilla, by Jerdine Nolen, focus on parts of a letter and making inferences

Shared Reading:
Rainforest Poem, focus on elements of poetry

Interactive Writing:
We will be writing and understanding the plural rules and examples for each rule: when we add -s, -es, -ies, -ves, and irregular plural nouns.

Independent Writing:
Our students have been working very hard on their Father's Day Project and on the essay: My Favorite Rainforest Animal. They will be finishing both projects this week.

Students will also participate in Centers, Independent Reading, Guided Reading and Book Clubs.
